Bíonn Oifigeach Tionscadail, Gnó le Gaeilge Forbairt Feirste agus an eagraíocht ar fad ag obair ar réimse leathan tosaíochtaí ó thaobh cumasú pobail agus éascú forbartha áitiúla. Cuireann Forbairt Feirste comhairle agus tacaíocht phraiticiúil ar fáil agus éascaíonn siad an próiseas forbartha áitiula thar réimse leathan tosaíochtaí a bhaineann le:


  • Tógáil Pobail- Comhairle agus tacaíocht phraiticiúil a chuireann muid ar fáil do ghrúpaí Gaeilge áitiúla ar bhuanú agus forbairt pobail agus ar bhuanú nó forbairt tionscadail.
  • Óige- Imríonn muid rol lárnach ag éascú forbairtí san Earnáil Óige trí Ghaeilge i mBéal Feirste is níos faide anonn. Coiste Óige Bhéal Feirste agus Fóram na nÓg i measc na dtograí nuabhunaithe i 2009/10 a raibh muid páirteach ann.
  • Seirbhísí Feasachta Cultúrtha agus Teanga- Soláthraíonn muid tograí oideachais saor in aisce ag leibheál pobail. Tagann seo i bhfoirm léachtaí aonaracha agus cúrsaí a mhaireann idir 6 agus 12 seachtaine agus a dhíríonn ar an illiomad ábhar ar nós; cúrsaí oidhreachta, stair áitiúil, stair na hAtbheochana Gaelaí, Dinnseanchas agus Logainmneacha, forbairtí cultúrtha, pobail agus spórtúla.
  • Laochra Loch Lao CLG- Cumann Lúthchleas Gael na Ceathrún Gaeltachta a bhunaigh muid i 2006. Ag neartú na teanga agus pobal na Gaeilge tríd an spórt is aidhm leis. Comórtais nuabhunaithe i 2009- ‘Féile Peile Laochra Loch Lao’ atá dírithe ar bhunscoileanna Bhéal Feirste le Corn Liam Uí Mhuirí mar dhuais buaiteora. Comórtas Oilibhéar Uí Cheallaigh- Comórtas Sinsir Dheisceart Aontroma dírithe ar fhoirne Feirsteacha atá  faoi stiúir ag Laochra Loch Lao.
  • An Ghaeilge sa Phobal- Bíonn muid éascú agus ag cothú grúpaí Gaeilge/Cultúrtha úrnua chun tograí áitiúla athbheochana a thógáil ón bhun aníos. Cairde Cheathrú na Gaeltachta, Cumann Gaelach Choláiste Feirste, Cumann Óige Chluanaí, Campa Chormaic Co. Aontroma agus Coiste Cultúrtha agus Pobail Ghort na Móna CLG i measc iad siúd a d’éascaigh muid i 2009/10.
  • Comhar na nGobharnóirí- D’éascaigh muid bunú na ngrúpa seo i Mí Aibreáin 2010. Bunaíodh é chun ceannaireacht straitéiseach a thabhairt d’earnáil na Gaelscolaíochta ón earnáil féin trí réimeas Ghobharnóirí na Scoileanna. Comhoibriú feidhmiúil chun feabhsú caighdeán (ina measc, caighdeán foghlama, teagaisc, foirgnimh, gobharnóireacht, bainisteoireacht scoile mar shamplaí) atá mar aidhm leis chomh maith le guth láidir aontaithe chun toradh a thabhairt ar riachtanais na hearnála.
  • Turasanna Cultúrtha- Cuireann muid turasanna treoraithe, (le treoraithe céimithe) ar Cheathrú Ghaeltachta Bhéal Feirste ar fáil do ghrúpaí Pobail agus Gaeilge, scoileanna Gaeilge agus Béarla chomh maith le hOllscoileanna.
  • Féilte Áitiúla- Imríonn muid ról lárnach éascaithe i bhFéilte áitiúla a thógann meanma an phobail trí shiamsaíocht ina mbíonn ceol traidisiúnta, cúrsaí oideachais agus spraoi lárnach ann. Is iad Féile Gaeilge le Bród, Fleadh Feirste agus Croí Féile an Earraigh, Oidhreachtaí Cruthaitheacha a d’imir muid ról lárnach ann i 2009/10.

Forbairt Feirste’s Irish Means Business, Projects Officer and indeed the entire organisation work across a wide range of priorities regarding the empowerment of local communities and the building of local capacity.


  • Building Communities-  We provide practical advice and support for local Irish language groups on strengthening community and project development.
  • Youth- We play central role in facilitating the development of the Irish Medium Youth Sector in Belfast and further afield. The Belfast Youth Committee and the Youth Forum (Irish Medium) were amongst the the projects that we were part of in 2009/10.
  • Language and Cultural Awareness Courses- We provide free educational services at community level. These come in the form of individual lectures and courses that last 6 to 12 weeks and focus on a wide range of subjects including; Cultural heritage courses, Local history, History of Irish Language revival, Local lore and placenames, cultural, community and sporting development.
  • Laochra Loch Lao CLG-  The Gaeltacht Quater Gaelic Athletic Association that we founded in 2006. Strengthening and language revival and the Irish language community through sport is its main aim. Newly formed competitions in 2009- ‘ The Laochra Loch Lao Football Festival’ that caters for Belfast’s Irish Medium Schools with the ‘Liam Ó Muirí trophy’ going to the winner. The Oliver Kelly Tournament- A Senior South Antrim Tournament aimed at Belfast teams and organised byLaochra Loch Lao CLG.
  • Irish Language in the Community- We facilitate and promote the development of new Irish Language and Cultural groupings to build new revivalist projects from the bottom up. Friends of the Gaeltacht Quarter, Colaiste Feirste Gaelic Society, Springfield Youth Club, Co Antrim Campa Chormaic and Gort na Móna CLG Cultural and Community Committee are amongst those we facilitated in 2009/10
  • Governor’s Council- We faciliated the formation of this group in April 2010. It was formed to give strategic leadership to the Irish Medium Education sector emanating from the sector itself through its school Governors. It aims to foster Functional co-operation to aid the raising of standards (learning, teaching, building, governorship, building work and school management as well as give a united voice as a response to the needs of the sector.
  • Cultural Tours- We provide guided tours of Belfast’s Gaeltacht Quarter, with professionally qualified tour-guides, for community and Irish language groups, both Irish and English schools and universities.
  • Local Festivals- We play a central facilitative role in local festivals that raise spirits in the community through entertainment that includes Traditional Music, education and enjoyment as central to it. In 2009/10, we were centrally involved in Féile Gaeilge le Bród, Fleadh Feirste, Croí Féile an Earraigh and Creative Legacies.
