Bliain cinniúnach gan dabht a bheas i 2016 do Ghael Phobal Feirste agus é ag toiseacht ar an bhealach is fearr ar fad le hobair ag tosnú ar an dara babhta de thógáil ar shuíomh Ard na bhFeá. An forbairt Caipitil Gaeilge is mó in Éirinn, le blianta.

Lainseáil Aogán ó Fearghail, Uachtarán Chumann Luthchleas Ghael agus an tAire Cultúir Caral Ní Chuilín Béal na Carraige, an dá chúirt ardchaighdeánach liathróid lámha ag deireadh 2015 agus anois ag tús na bliana úir táthar £11,357,001.43 a infheistiú i gColáíste Feirste. Tá Forbairt Feirste dóchasach fosta go dtiocfaidh dearbhú roimh I bhfad ar chaiteachas de £3.4m eile i mórthionscadal Spórtlann na hÉireann. Ansin tabharfaidh muid aghaidh ceart ar scéim títhíocht Ghaeilge Crannóg na bhFeá.

Agus murach leor sin don bhliain beidh £1.7m eile a chaitheamh ar thosaíocht Iontaobhas na Gaelscolaíochta, Áras na bhFál, Ionad Gnó Ghaeilge ag coirneál an Bhealach Leathán a chuirfeas go mór le hinfrastruchtúr na Ceathrún Ghaeltachta.

“Táimid ar bís leis an dul chun chinn ata déanta le blianta beags anuas,” a dúirt Cathaoirleach Forbairt Feirste, Seán Mistéíl.

“Tá sprioc againn chun £50m d’infheistiú caipitil a tharraing isteach sa Cheathrú Ghaeltachta agus táimid píosa maith chun tosaí ar an áit a shíl muid tamall de bhlianta ó shin agus muid ar tairgéad leis an sprioc a bhaint amach. Tá muid tiománta fosta go dtabharfar aitheantas de thabhacht an tosaíocht seo le haitheantas ón dá dlínse a chinntiú don Cheathrú Ghaeltachta mar Chroí Thionscadal eiseamláireach don Oileán agus don Eorap.”

Tá Forbairt Feirste tiománta fosta chun Gaeil Chúige Uladh a ghríosiú chun Seachtain Éirí amach na nGael a cheiliúradh ar fud an chúige ón 24 go dtí an 30ú Aibreann. Beidh an béim againn féin ar réimse leathán d’imeachtaí a reachtáil do Ghael Phobal Feirste agus ansin críochneoidh muid an Seachtain spleodrach seo le mórcheiliúradh i nGaeltacht Thír Chonáill ar deireadh seachtaine an 29ú Aibreann.

Bliain cinniúnach gan dabht. Ní neart go cur le chéile.

2016 will, without doubt be a decisive year for Belfast’s Irish Speaking community starting as it does on the best possible note with the announcement of the second phase of building on the Ard na bhFeá development site. The biggest capital programme in the Irish language sector throughout Ireland in years.

Aogán ó Fearghail, President of Cumann Luthchleas Ghael (GAA) and the Minister of Culture, Caral Ní Chuilín launched the Béal na Carraige, building at the end of 2015 praising the provision of two state-of-the-art handball courts and now with 2016 underway we have the commencement of  an £11,357,001.43 a investment in Coláíste Feirste. Forbairt Feirste are hopeful that confirmation will soon be made of a further £3.4m of expenditure earmarked for the Spórtlann na hÉireann building which will front the Falls Road site. With that secured the organisation will then give proper focus to delivering the Crannóg na bhFeá Irish language Housing scheme.

And if that isn’t enough for a start there is also the £1.7m  investment on the eile Iontaobhas na Gaelscolaíochta initiative, Áras na bhFál, An Irish language Business and office centre set to transform the corner of Broadway adding even further to the growing infrastructure of Belfast’s Gaeltacht.

“We are hugely excited with the progress we’ve made to date” said Forbairt Feirste chair, Seán Mistéíl.

“We have a target of £50m of capital investment for the Gaeltacht area and we are well ahead of where we had hoped to be even a few years ago but we are on target and determined to realise what is an ambitious target. We are also determined to have Signature Project status for the Gaeltacht Quarter from both jurisdictions so that proper recognition can be given to this initiative as an exemplar for Language communities across the island and throughout Europe.”

Forbairt Feirste are also focussed on encouraging Irish speakers throughout the Province of Ulster to join us in  celebrating Seachtain Éirí amach na nGael throughout the nine counties between the 24th and 30th of April. Our emphasis will be on providing a wide range of events for Belfast’s Gaelic community and to ensuring a mighty end to the week with a Gathering of the Ulster Gael in  the Donegal Gaeltacht on the weekend of the 29th April.

A decisive year without doubt.
