Forbairt Feirste, were delighted to host a delegation from the Lowe Presbyterian Congregation on a visit to Belfast’s Gaeltachta ón Tuesday last 2ú October. The Lowe Congregation grew out of the mother church of Broadway Presbyterian, which today is in the custodianship of Cultúrlann Mac Adam Ó Fiaich.

One of the visitors in fact married in the Broadway church 63 years ago and was delighted to be photographed beside the original church bible which was used for her nuptials and which was recently gifted to Cultúrlann. The day’s visit opened with a tour of Coláiste Feirste, where senior pupils guided the visitors through Beechmount House and the school estate. Their was music, craic and a fair degree of history throughout the day.

The visitors then repaired to Cultúrlann where tea and scones and some small presentations took place. Sean McGourty, a former St Gall’s and Country Antrim hurler brought the visitors to the Gaeltacht Quarter. “This was a great experience” said Sean, “I hope it is only a beginning and not an end.”
