Bhí lúcháir ar Ghaeil Feirste fáilte Uí Cheallaigh, chuig croílár na Ceathrún Gaeltachta, a chur roimhe Uachtarán úrcheaptha Chomhairle Uladh CLG, Aogán Ó Fearghail. Ó Chondae an Cabháin don Uas Ó Fearghail agus tá tús úr maith curtha ag an Ultach céanna cheana féin le h-áit na Gaeilge a lárnú agus a chinntiú i gCúrsaí CLG faoina réimeas Uachtaránachta.


Bhí an Uachtarán i mBéal Feirste, ar an 30/03/30 le uasdátú a fháil ar a bhfuil ar siúl sa Cheathrú Ghaeltachta Cois Cuan, agus chun a gcuid pleánanna maidir le todhchaí na Gaeilge sa CLG a roinnt le pobal na Gaeilge.


Cruinniú an-dearfach ar fad a bhí ann agus aontaíodh ar roinnt de na desieanna móra a d’fhéadfadh Gaeil Feirste a fhorbairt i gcomhpháirt le Coiste na Gaeilge de Chuid Comhairle Uladh CLG.


Thug an Uachtarán le fios go raibh sé thar a bheith sásta a bheannacht a chur le h-iarrachtaí Laochra Loch Lao agus iad ag ullmhú do dhushlann Chomórtas Peile na Gaeltachta i gCondae Mhaigh Eo ag tús Mheitheamh.


Tugadh eolas don Uachtarán faoi Comórtas Chorn Uí Mhúirí, Ógchomórtas na Laochra agus faoi Comórtás Chorn Uí Cheallagh, Comórtas na Laochra a bheas ag titim amach ar an 29ú Aibrean agus an 15ú Belataine.


“Ní neart go cur le chéíle,” a dúirt Jake MacSiacais ó Forbairt Feirste agus é ag caint tar éis an chruinnithe.

Belfast Gaels were delighted to extend the warmest of Irish welcomes to the heart of the Gaeltacht Quarter to President elect of the Ulster Council of the GAA, Aogán Ó Fearghail. A native of Cavan, Mr Ó Fearghail has hit the ground running in his new Ulster rolemoving to ensure the centrality and future of the Irish Language at the heart of GAA in Ulster during his tenure of office.


The president was in Belfast on Tuesday, 30/03/10, to get an update on progress and developments in Belfast’s Gaeltacht Quarter and to share his plans in relation to the current and future role of Irish in GAA affairs.


This was a hugely positive meeting and all participants agreed to further explore the huge development opportunities which exist for Belfast Gaels working in partnership with the Ulster Council.


The preseident indicated that he was more than delighted to give his wholehearted blessing to the efforts of Laochra Loch Lao, the Gaeltacht Quarter footbal squad as they prepare for the forthcoming challenge of  Chomórtas Peile na Gaeltachta in County Mayo at the beginning of June.


The president was also updated on plans for the forthcoming Gaeltacht Quarter Conference on May 14th as well as details of  The Liam Murray Cup, Young Laochra Competitionand The Oliver Kelly Cup Competition, Comórtas na Laochra which will happen on April 29th and May 15th.


“In unity lies strength,” said Forbairt Director Jake MacSiacais after the meeting.
