Tugadh céim eile chun tosaigh sa Cheathrú Ghaeltachta nuair a rinneadh clársconsa ardmháisithe a noctadh ag an aire timpeallachta Alex Attwood thart ar suíomh Áras na bhFál ag barr an Bhealach Leathán. Foirgneamh ardchaighdeánach atá san Áras atá a bheartú don suíomh lárnach seo ag Iontaobhabhas na Gaelscolaíochta.


Tús le sraith de thosaíochtaí tógála atá san Áras a chuirfeas leis an chlaochlú sa cheantair atá faoi stiúir ag Bord na Ceathrún Ghaeltachta le tacaíocht rúnaíochta agus bainistíocha ó Forbairt Feirste.


Ag nochtadh an clársconsa, atá lán íomhanna ionspioraideacha de dhaoine óga agus eile sa Cheathrú, dúirt an aire Attwood go raibh áthas air an tairgead a chur ar fáíl i gcomhpháirt le Comhairle Bhéal Feirste chun cur ar a chumas ag Iontaobhas na Gaelscolaíochta an seanfhoirgneamh a bhí ann a leagán agus déanamh réidh don dul chun tosaigh ar Áras na bhFál ata beartaithe do no míonna amach romhainn.


I láthair ag an lainseáil bhí an aire timpeallachta Alex Attwood, Comhairleoirí Bhéal Feirste, Deirdre Hargey (SF) agus Pat McCarthy agus Tim Attwood (PDSO), Pilib Ó Ruanaí, príomhfheidmeannach Iontaobhas na Gaelscolaíochta agus Jake MacSiacais, stiúrthóir Forbairt Feirste.


Dúirt an tuas Ó Ruanaí: ” Táimid buíoch don Aire agus don chomhairle as an chuidiú a thug siad dúinn leis an gráin súl a bhí anseo a leagan agus cur ar ár gcumas brú ar aghaidh leis na pleananna atá againn chun borramh úr a chur faoin cheantair seo le tionscadal a chuirfidh le tógáil na Ceathrún Ghaeltachta agus an Gaeloideachais araon.”

Another step change in the transformation of the Gaeltacht Quarter has taken place with the erection and unveiling of a decorative hoarding, by environment minister Alex Attwood, around the site of the planned Áras na bhFál building at the top of Broadway. Áras na bhFál is an initiative by Iontaobhas na Gaelscolaíochta ( The Irish Medium School Trust) which will occupy this central and formerly derelict site.


The Áras is one of a range of capital projects which are ste to transform the Gaeltacht Quarter and which are being planned and facilitated by the Gaeltacht Quarter Board with secretarial and managerial assistance from Forbairt Feirste.


Unveiling the hoarding, which is decorated with inspiring images of young and not so young people from the Gaeltacht Quarter, minister Attwood said that he was delighted to have been able to provide the funding to enable the beginning of the transformation of the formerly derelict site which included the demolition of the existing derelict building and the commissioning and erection of the hoarding in partnership with Belfast City Council. A move which would pave the way for the realisation of the Áras na bhFál building project.


Present at the launch were environment minister Alex Attwood, Belfast City Councillors Deirdre Hargey (SF) and Pat McCarthy and Tim Attwood (SDLP) Pilib Ó Ruanaí, head of Iontaobhas na Gaelscolaíochta and Forbairt Feirste director, Jake MacSiacais.


Pilib Ó Ruanaí noted: ” We are thankful to Minister Attwood and to the City Council for the assistance they have given in clearing the way for us to press ahead with 0ur ambitious plans for transforming this key site in the Gaeltacht Quarter and allowing us to inject fresh energy into the efforts to accelerate development in the Quarter whilst also underpinning developments in the Irish Medium School sector.”
