Cuireadh fáilte agus fíche roimh dhaltaí óga ó Choláiste Phobal na Gaillimhe agus iad ar chuairt le linn na seachtaine seo caite chuig Ceathrú Ghaeltachta Bhéal Feirste.

Labhair oifigeach Tionscadal Gnó le Gaeilge Forbairt Feirste, Feargal Mac Ionnrachtaigh  leis na daltaí ag cur i láthair a d’eagraigh Forbairt i gCultúrlann MacAdam Ó Fiaich. S’é an príomhábhar a bhí faoi chaibidil aige ná cur chun cinn na Gaeilge i suíomh ceantair uirbigh atá faoi míbhuntáiste, agus an tsócmhainneacht ar féidir baint as an athbheochan chultúrtha chun pobail a chumhachtú.

Thagair Mac Ionrachtaigh go sonrach d’obair Forbairt Feirste le blianta beaga anuas agus ar thionscadail éagsúla cosúil le Gnó le Gaeilge, i dTreo na Fostaíochta agus forbairt Laochra Loch Lao CLG.

“Deis iontach a bhí againn nascanna a chruthú le daoine i gCathair na Gaillimhe, áit a bhfuil cur chun cinn na Gaeilge, go háirithe sa réimse gnó agus poiblí ina ionspioráid dúinne abhus anseo.” a dúirt Feargal

A hearty fáilte was extended to students from Galway Community College as they visited West Belfast’s Gaeltacht Quarter last week.

Forbairt Feirste’s Irish Means Business Project Worker, Feargal Mac Ionnrachtaigh spoke to the students during a presentation organised and hosted by Forbairt Feirste  in Culturlann MacAdam Ó Fiach. Chief among the topics covered in the presentation was the promotion of Irish in a deprived urban setting and the asset of language and culture in empowering communities.

Mac Ionrachtaigh made specific reference to the work of Forbairt Feirste over recent years and to various projects including Irish Means Business, Towards Employment and the development of Laochra Loch Lao GAA.

“This was a great opportunity to forge more links with people in Galway City, a place where the promotion of Irish, particularly in Business and the public realm is an inspiration to us in our work here,” said Feargal.
