Bhris Forbairt Feirste talamh úr i mbliana ag an cheathrú Aonach Oibre le breis daltaí agus níos mó scoileanna i láthair ná mar a bhí ariamh ag Coláiste Feirste ar an 7/10/10. Thainig scoileanna chun an Aonaigh ó Chondae Aontroma, ó Chondae an Dúin, ó Chondae Dhoire, ó Chondae Thír Eoghain agus ó Chondae Ard Mhacha, áit ar mheasc siad lena chomhghleachaithe ó Bhéal Feirste Daltaí Choláiste Feirste ina measc ar ndóigh.

Dúirt Colma McKee, príomheagraí na himeachta, go raibh sí thar a bheith sásta leis an bheocht a bhí san Aonach i mbliana agus thréisigh sí le gach duine a bhí páirteach agus a chuidigh leis an lá, idir scoileanna, ollscoileanna, gnóanna agus eagraíochtaí Ghaeilge.

“Is deis iontach é an Aonach Nualíoch seo a ligeann d’fhostóirí táithí a fháil ar bhuntáistí an dátheangachais agus dul i dtáithí ar na daoine óga sciliúla i bpobal na Gaeilge. Lena chois sin, tugann sé fostaitheoirí ó achan cearn den tír, eagraíochtaí Ghaeilge, gnónna agus comhlachtaí, agus réimse leathán de soláthraitheoirí oideachais le chéile i gcroílár na Ceathrún Ghaeltachta chun seastáin eolais a chur ar fáil do na céadtaí daltaí.” a dúirt sí.

“Deis iontach atá san Aonach Oibre seo chun fostóirí agus daoine ó earnáil ard agus breis oideachais a thabhairt isteach in aon seomra le daltaí Galescoileanna agus le daltaí atá ag dul don Ghaeilge mar ábhar ag Gnáth nó Ard Leibheáil.”

Don céad úr fosta i mbliana bhí seimineáir a reachtáil dar teideál, ‘buntaiste bréise na Gaeilge’, a bhí eagraíthe i bpáirtnéireacht le Coláiste Feirste, Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge agus Comhar na Múinteoirí Gaeilge. Tharla trí seimineáir i léachtlann Choláiste Feirste agus an Aonach faoi lán seoil in Halla Mór an choláiste.  Bhí rachairt mór ar an trí seimeáir agus d’éist na céadtaí dalta leis  na príomhchainteoirí ag na seimineár mar a bhí Úrsula Ní Dhonnaile, Tomaí Ó Conghaile, Conall Ó Máirtín agus Niall Comer.

Bhronn Gael Linn trí scolaireachtaí chun na Gaeltachta ceann ag gach seisiúin ar an dalta a chur an cheist is fearr nó is géarchúisí ar na gcainteoirí.

Forbairt Feirste broke new ground again this year with their fourth annual  Employment Fair attracting more students from more schools than ever before to Coláiste Feirste on the 7/10/10. Schools in attendance at the fair came to Coláiste Feirste from across Antrim, Down, Derry, Tyrone and Armagh where they were joined by many of their Belfast counterparts not least those from Coláiste Feirste itself.

The fourth annual Employment fair itself takes place on Thursday 7 October 2010 in Coláiste Feirste from 9.30-2.30pm. This fair provides pupils studying the Irish language in the North of Ireland with the chance to see the current opportunities associated with the language.

Speaking after the event, Colma Mhic Aoidh, Co-ordinator of Forbairt Feirste’s ‘Towards Employment’ scheme and the main organiser of the Employment Fair stated that she was delighted with the buzz which was in evidence at the Jobs Fair and she congratulated all those who took part or helped on the day including the schools, universities, employers and Irish Language organisations.

“This innovative Employment fair gives employers a unique opportunity to learn about the advantages of bilingualism and to tap into a well of highly skilled young people in the burgeoning Irish language community. In addtion, it brings employers from across the country, Irish language organisations, businesses and companies and a wide-range of educational providers to the middle of the Gaeltacht Quarter to showcase information stalls for the pupils.” she said.

For the first time also this year,Forbairt were delighted to see the provision of three seminars entitled, ‘Additional advantages of the Irish language’, these were organised in partnership with Coláiste Feirste, Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge and Comhar na Múinteoirí Gaeilge. The seminars took place in the Coláiste Feirste’s lecture theatre whilst the Jobs Fairwas in full swing in the Main hall of the school.  The seminar attracted full houses at each of its three sessions with hundreds of pupils hearing from the main speakers, Úrsula Ní Dhonnaile, Tomaí Ó Conghaile, Conall Ó Máirtín and Niall Comer.

Gael Linn added to the sense of excitement on the day by presenting a scholarship to the Gaeltacht at each of the three sessions on the pupil judged to have asked the best or the most perceptive question of the speakers.
