Thréaslaigh sé fosta leo siúd uilig a bhí páírteach san ócáid fíorstarúil seo.

“Caithfear, ar ndóigh, ár mbuíochas ó chroí a ghabháil ó le Foras na Gaeilge a rinne urraíocht ar an imeacht iontach seo, agus leis na haoíeanna speisialta go léir  a thainig chuig oscailt an Ionad Tacaíocht Úr” a dúirt sé.

Hundreds of pupils from the Irish Langauge Sector, from every corner of the Six Counties were present yesterday (22/4/10) when President of Ireland, Máire Mhic Giolla Íosa, unveiled a commemorative plaque today in Coláiste Feirste, which marked the official opening of the College’s new Learning Support Centre.

Speaking after the celebration, which brought together representatives of every Irish Medium school in the Six Counties, Forbairt Feirste director, Jake MacSiacais said it was a wonderful day for the Irish Speaking community.

“It was an honour and a privilege  for me to serve with some of this great school’s outstanding staff as chair of the organising committee for this celebration. The celebration gave us an opportunity to mark another milestone in the inspirational journey which the pioneers of the Shaw’s Road Gaeltacht started forty years ago.

Mac Siacais congratulated those others who made up the organising committee for the event:  Róisín Mhic an Lia, Diarmaid Ua Bruadair, Eimear Mhic an Fháilí agus Eamonn Ó Faogáin, from the staff and Board of Governors of Coláiste Feirste, Pilib Mistéil, from Bunscoil an tSléibhe Dhuibh and Áine Andrews from Gaelscoil na bhFál, for their commitment and drive. He also congratulated all those who particpated in any way and who made the day such an historic occasion.

“We also need to give our warmest thanks to Foras na Gaeilge whose sponsorship made this wonderful event possible and to all the special guests who attended this opening of the new Educational Support Centre,” he said.
