Déanfar Oidhreacht Ard na bhFeá, tosaíocht chultúrtha de chuid Forbairt Feirste, a lainseáíl go hoifigiúl ar an Chéadaoin seo chugainn an 3ú Aibreán ag Coláíste Feirste i gcroílár na Ceathrún Ghaeltachta. Ag an lainseáil, a glaoítear Súil an Dearcadóra air, nochtfar dá phíosa ealaíne a rinneadh go speisíalta ar choimísiúin don ócáid ag na healaíontóirí áitiúla, Mícheál Doherty and John Stewart.


 Ag an mhalartú ealaíne bronnfar pictiúir, a rinneadh ag an ealaíontóir Mícheál Doherty ó Iarthar Bhéal Feirste, thar cheann Forbairt Feirste don ghrúpa Ghaeilge Turas, atá lonnaithe i bhfoirgneamh Skainos in Oirthear na Cathrach. Mar chuiteamh ar seo Bronnfar píosa ealaíne déanta ag an Ealaíontóir John Stewart ar Choláiste Feirste thar cheann Turas.


Is tús agus lainseáil ar shraith imeachtaí cultúrtha a bheas san ócáid Dé Chéadaoin agus é  de sprioc againn oidhreacht agus stair  Teach Ard na bhFeá a scaoileadh chun leasa an phobail ar bhealach a thógann ar an chomhurraim agus an comhthuiscint agus a ardaíonn feasacht ar iolrachas chultúrtha agus ar ár gcomhoidhreacht saibhir.


Ag díriú ar an tréimshe go Mí Meitheamh 2014 beidh Forbairt Feirste ag ullmhú clár imeachtaí a reachtálfar chun ardán a thabhairt don obair leanúnach seo agus chun dul i bhfeidhm ar dhaoine maidir leis an scéal iontach iontach a bhaineann le  Teach Ard na bhFeá, arbh é an teach is aosta i mBéal Feirste é le stair ag síniú siar breis agus 260 bliain.


Déanfaidh an dá ealaíontóir tógáil ar an saothar a rinneadh comísiúniu ar cheana agus obreoidh siad ar chomhthionscnamh bliana a sriocfaidh ceann scribe i dtaispeántas dar teideal Idir Dá Aigne a reachtálar i nDanlann Dillon, Cultúrlann MacAdam Ó Fiaich i Mí Bealtaine 2014, agus a leanfar le taispeantas i bhfoirgneamh Skainos in Oirthear na Cathrach.


Ag labhairt dó roimhe na himeachtaí dúirt cthaoirleach Forbairt an tuas Seán Místéil:


“Is e an príomh fhócas a bhí le hobair s’againn le tamall ná na féidearthachtaí a bhaineann le suíomh Ard na bhFeá a scaoileadh chun leasa pobal na Gaeilge ar bhealaigh a neartaíonn obair s’againn sa Cheathrú Ghaeltachta. Tá muid an tógtha faoin ról a dtig le tosaíocht Oidhreacht Ard na b hFeá – Beechmount Heritage a imirt i leathnú amach ról s’aginn ar bhonn cathrach. Bígí linn.”

Forbairt Feirste’s Oidhreacht Ard na bhFeáBeechmount Heritage initiative will be launched this coming Wednesday April 3rd when two pieces of specially commissioned art from local artists, Mícheál Doherty and John Stewart will be exchanged at Coláiste Feirste in a public unveiling and launch entitled Súil an Dearcadóra – Eye of the Beholder.


The artwork exchange will see a piece of art by West Belfast artist Mícheál Doherty presented on behalf of Forbairt Feirste to Irish Language group Turas, who are based in the Skainos Building in the East Belfast Mission while a piece by East Belfast artist John Stewart will be presented to Coláiste Feirste on behalf of Turas.


The public art exchange and launch will mark the beginning of a year long series of events which aim to unlock the heritage and history associated with Teach Ard na bhFeáBeechmount House to the benefit of citizens and in ways which build understanding, promote awareness of cultural diversity and underpin the use of the heritage, arts and culture to promote and protect our shared culture heritage.


Focussing on the period up until June 2014 Forbairt Feirste is preparing a programme of  events which will be staged to highlight and showcase this ongoing work and to engage people with the fascinating story of Teach Ard na bhFeá, the oldest extant continuously used house in Belfast, with a history stretching back over more than 260 years


Both artists will build on the already commissioned work by engaging in a year long collaborative programme which will culminate in a joint exhibition entitled Idir Dá Aigne which will be hosted in the Dillon Gallery at Cultúrlann MacAdam Ó Fiaich in May 2014, followed by an exhibition in the Skainos building in East Belfast.


Speaking ahead of the launch Forbairt chair Seán Mistéil said:


“Unlocking the potential of the Beechmount site for the benefit of the Irish Speaking community and in ways which underpin our work in the Gaeltacht Quarter has been the focus of our work for some considerable time. We are very excited by the role the Oidhreacht Ard na b hFeá – Beechmount Heritage initiative can help realise and underscore our city wide mission.
