Tá Ionad na dTacsaithe Dúbha i mBéal Feirste i ndiaidh tacaíocht don scoth a léiriú d’athbheochan na Gaeilge athuair agus iad i lár an aonaigh le lainseáil RITH 2010 i mBéal Feirste. Beidh trí bhealach reatha sa RITH i mBéal Feirste, in iarthar, tuaisceart agus in oirthear Bhéal Feirste a bheas ag tarlú anocht i mBéal Feirste. D’aontaigh an comharchumann is mó agus is suntasaí sna hoileáin Bhriotánacha, trí thiománaí le Gaeilge líofa a chur ar fáil ar an oíche le bheith ag freastal ar na trí bhealach. Dúirt Feargal Mac Ionnrachtaigh, oifigeach tionscnaimh le Forbairt Feirste agus Eagraí Iarthar Bhéal Feirste do RITH 2010, ‘Tá muid fíorbhuíoch d’Ionad na dTacsaithe Dúbha as an tacaíocht atá siad ag léiriú don togra spreagúil seo a thógann airgead don teanga agus a ardaíonn próifíl na Gaeilge ar fud na tíre. Ní amháin go mbeidh triúr Gael líofa linn ar an oíche agus beidh costais s’acu clúdaithe go flaithiúil ag Ionad féin.’

Maidir leis an tacaíocht seo, arsa bainisteoir an Ionaid, Stiofán Long: ‘Tá muid iontach sásta bheith i ndan tacú leis an togra ceannródaíoch seo a thógann airgead d’athbheochan na teanga agus don phobal féin i gcoitinne. Oibríonn muidne ar son an phobail agus tá muid iontach brodúil as an aon fhoirgneamh taistil poiblí dátheangach sa tír a fuair muid i gcead do chomhoibriú dlúth le Forbairt Feirste.

Go fiú féin, ghlac muid an cinneadh comharthaí ár gcuid tacsaithe a sholáthar go dátheangach, céim a bhí iontach cáiliúil leis na mílte custaiméirí agus turasóirí a úsáideann ár gcuid seirbhísí ar bhonn laethúil. Mar sin de, tá muid iontach tógtha faoi RITH agus ag dúil go mór le bheith ag tacú leis.’

The West Belfast Taxi Association have again announced fantastic support for the Irish language revival by playing a central role in RITH 2010. There will be three Belfast routes, in West, North and South Belfast that will launch tonight. The largest public co-operative on the British Isles have agreed to provide three fluent Irish speaking drivers to cater for the three routes.  Forbairt Feirste’s project worker and West Belfast RITH organiser Feargal Mac Ionnrachtaigh, stated, ‘We are very grateful for the West Belfast Taxi Association for their support for this inspiring initiative that raises funds for the language and raises the profile of the language revival throughout the country. Not only will three fluent speakers be there on the night but their costs will also be kindly covered by the association.’

In relation to this support, West Belfast Association manager, Stiofán Long stated, ‘We are very happy to be able to support this pioneering initiative that raises much-needed funds for the language revival and our community in general. We work on behalf of the community and are very proud to sport the first fully-bilingual public transport building on the island, that we succeeded in getting through close co-operation with Forbairt Feirste. Even still, we took the decision to provide bilingual signage on our taxi’s, a step which proved hugely popular with the thousands of customers and tourists that use our services on a daily basis.  Therefore, we are very excited about RITH and greatly looking forward to supporting it.’
