Thiar in 2006 bhí ceiliúradh a dhéanamh i mBéal Feirste ar chéad bliain a bheith imithe ó chéadosclaíodh Halla Chathair Bhéal Feirste mar chuid den cheiliúradh sin rinne Forbairt Feirste i gcomhpháirt le Foras na Gaeilge dinnéar mór ceiliúrtha a reáchtáil i Halla na Cathrach.  I láthair ag an dinnéar agus ceiliúradh bhí 450 d’ionadaithe Gaelphobal Feirste in éineacht le haíonna speisialta. Bhí scoth na gceoltóirí agus eile i láthair fosta le siamsaíocht a chur ar fáil.

D’oscail Leas Ard-Mhéara na Cathrach an tUas Ruth Patterson, comhairleoir de chuid an Pháirtí Aondachtaigh Dhaonlathaigh (PAD) an t-imeacht agus thug sí an phríomhchaint ar an oíche. Rinneadh taispeántas ar stair na Gaeilge i mBéal Feirste agus lainseáladh leabhrán ceiliúrtha ar an téama céanna.

Ó shin i leith tá Forbairt Feirste, i gcomhpháirt le Foras na Gaeilge ag reáchtáil cur i láthair ar an ábhar céanna i scoileanna agus aonaid Pobail.

Rinneadh an leabhrán a athlainseáil le linn Fleadh Feirste i mí na Samhna 2009 agus trí chaibidil breise leis.

Is féidir cur i lathair ar an ábhar seo a iarraidh ach dul i dteagmháil linn.

Back in 2006 Belfast was celebrating 100 years since the opening of City Hall, as part of that celebration Forbairt Feirste in conjunction with Foras na Gaeilge held a celebration dinner in City Hall. Present at the dinner were 450 representatives of Belfast’s Irish speaking community alongside specially invited guests. Also there on the night were the cream of Gaelic talent and musicians providing entertainment.

The City’s Deputy Mayor, Ruth Patterson of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) officially opened the event and gave the keynote address. An exhibition on the history of the Irish Langauge in Belfast was unveiled on the night and a booklet was also launched on the same theme.

Since then Forbairt Feirste in conjunction with Foras na Gaeilge have held a series of presentations and talks on this theme in schools and community centres.

The booklet was also updated, with the addition of three new chapters, and launched during the Gaeltacht Quarter Festival in November 2009.

Presentations on this can be arranged by contacting us.
